Why The Mom Collective?

Navigating pregnancy was a freaking ROLLERCOASTER. Half of the time I thought I was crazy for googling every weird symptom I hadn’t had before, and the other half I was just trying to make it through the day without taking a nap. When I wasn’t googling my symptoms, I luckily had lot’s of women and moms to ask. Being a motherhood photographer has SO many perks; having a built in mom community to lean on was luckily one of them.

What I realized though, was that although I had access to all of these women and moms to ask questions because I was their photographer, many of them didn’t have their own communities locally. Our city, St. Pete, is always welcoming new residents, many of whom are new moms. I found myself connecting these moms with each other, a mommy matchmaker if you will, based on where they lived, or interests they shared with me. Many of these moms are now friends who have play dates, girls nights and that was SO exciting for me to watch & I knew there was something more that the mom community needed.

Once my photography studio opened, my initial goal was to host one moms night out a month. A time and space for moms, to be kid free, connect with other moms and have a damn good time. But that vision quickly shifted because one moms night out wasn’t nearly enough. If you’ve met me, you know I don’t do things small, and The Mom Collective was no different.

In just one month since the grand opening of The Coastal Corner Studio, we have hosted 17 movement classes, 4 coffee & connections, 2 co-working connects, 1 moms night out, a world breast feeding event & a day of kid personality pictures. & we are JUST GETTING STARTED.

Until the next one,
Sophie
