When you dream too big…
YOU GO UNDER CONTRACT ON A HOME FOR THE MOM COLLECTIVE!
Holy freaking moly, I don’t even know where to begin or how to start. Never in my wildest dreams would I think I would be girl bossing THIS CLOSE TO THE SUN, but lets freaking go-moms can do anything; and thank you to all of my incredible Mom Collective support system-we are making a Mom Collective headquarters dream, a reality.
I knew when I started The Mom Collective there was something special there, but I didn’t know just how special until you all showed up, excited and happy to have a place for women and moms of all phases to go, relax, release some stress, workout and more. But the only problem was, we very quickly ran out of space and my vision had grown and grown and grown. Thats where Coastal House came to be.
After doing some internet browsing for properties, as I do in my spare time (but who doesn’t look at listings for fun?), I stumbled upon what seemed to good to be true. A 2 acre property, in St. Pete, with a main two story house, and two exterior buildings, big patio deck, a fire pit and sweeping trees and landscaping. It was truly stunning. The only problem was it wasn’t for sale, and there was no representation listed for me to contact. But as women do, (insert Kris Jenner-this is a case for the FBI meme), I found the LLC that owns the property, then found the owner of the LLC and send her a DM on Facebook. (I also started dating my husband after I shamefully slid into his DMs so it worked before LOL).
I explained that her property was the perfect location for a much needed concept that I had and I asked if she would be willing to meet with me to talk about it-and after our first meeting, it was love at first sight (for the building and my new friendship with Alin (the original property owner).
I won’t bore you with the tedious details of creating a full business proposal, projections, interior designing the space, getting quotes, inspections-blah, blah, blah-but after several weeks of pouring my heart and soul into seeing if this was in the realm of possibilities- my husband and I decided that it was a risk we were ready to take, and he supported me taking this big leap-and within a day we were officially under contract on the property. I could hardly believe it.
We are in the final stages of dotting our I’s and crossing our t’s, and soon, Coastal House (I’ll explain this name why later), will be ours; and by ours, I mean the women, moms, and family community of Tampa Bay. Because this space, is a dream not just for me, but for all of us, and I cannot wait to share it with you!
Until the next one,
Sophie
